Jan 1st - A Cold day. Therm -16 below, 06 above at 2 O'Clock. It was Sunday First rate Sleighing. The last two weeks Oak lumber 8.00. Poplar 10.00, Poplar logs 75, Oak logs .50 Plaster 6.00. Pork I paid 5.37½. Beef 3.00 + 6.00. Flour 2.50 pr.
Jan 6th - Good Sleighing ended.
Feb 4th - Smith Botsfords hired man was killed. He was hauling manure with a share of Horses. He was alone; and when found could give no account and died about an hour after. He was a German a young man (John M. Hadin)
Feb 7th - Dolly Savage died about sundown to day. Aged 61 years, 3 mo, + 27 days. Disease Congestion of Head + Lungs. She was not thought dangerous, at home. Unwell on Sunday, better Monday, died Tuesday.
Feb 19th - Mrs. Ann Brown Died of Inflamation of Lungs. Was taken sick Tuesday night, Died next Sunday about one quarter past one P.M.
March 29th - John Botsford + Elmira E. Winslow were Married In Ann Arbor in Cook Hotel.
July 29th - We had a great rain From 12 O'Clock at Night to now. (that is eleven hours) The Huron raised 7 feet 3 in. in the channel and on the Sawmill Sill. Next Morning at 6 O'clock it was Three feet lower. In a bucket that was set out the water was Seven inches deep.
August 11th - Sophia Green Died Aged 74 years. Was buried in Botsford burial ground on the 13th. Residence E ½ of N.W. Sec.
Aug. 8th - Nathaniel H. Terry Died to day in Romulus Seneca Co N.Y. He was in his 67 year.
Sept. 5th - Wheat started at $1.00, fell to .90 per bu. Has rose again to $1.00.
Aug 17th - Samuel Dinton, M.D. Died of Inflamation of bowels. Aged 57 years. He came to Ann Arbor in 1826.
Sept 8th - John Geddes Formerly of Path Valley Franklin Co Pennsylvania Called on Robert + me.
Oct 18th - William Brown + Mary Ward were married at Ann Arbor. Wheat 1.00 per Bu.
October - Smith Botsford Bought all that part of the S.E. ½ , Sec 25 that lies North of the Territorial Road. 117 acres for Sixteen dollars per acre. Cash.
Dec. 5th - Elizabeth K. Randall + Nelson Osborn were married. He is 40 years + Elizabeth is 30 years old. Our folks were at the Wedding (Dec.23rd)
